During the 2015-2016 academic year, Kyoto University offered the following international student programs, implemented by individual faculties and graduate schools with assistance provided under the KU Project to Enhance the Promotion and Support of Internationalization.

  • Foreign Student Courses:
    Full-degree programs taught mainly in English or other non-Japanese languages
  • Short-Term Programs for Foreign Students:
    Programs for those enrolled in overseas institutions that have concluded, or are expected to conclude, a student exchange agreement with Kyoto University

These programs were intended as a key component of the University's efforts to internationalize its campuses and make itself more accessible and appealing to students from outside Japan.
