Using an AED

AEDs are intended for use on anyone requiring defibrillation, especially those in cardiac or respiratory arrest and exhibiting ECG features of ventricular fibrillation. Usage is simple; turn the device on, place the defibrillation pads on the patient, and following the voice instructions and if prompted, press the defibrillation button.

1. Prepare the AED for use

2. Turn the device on

3. Place the defibrillation pads on the patient

4. Make sure that no one is touching the patient while the device is analyzing the ECG

5. If prompted, press the defibrillation button

6. Check for circulation
