President Minato speaks following Research Excellence accreditation review

Kyoto University held a press conference on 3 July 2026 after Japan's science ministry MEXT announced the results of its Advisory Board's "University for International Research Excellence" accreditation review.

At the press conference, President Nagahiro Minato outlined the University's "Research System Strengthening Plan" and described how the University will move forward toward formal accreditation.

The conference was preceded by a meeting between President Minato and the MEXT minister, Yohei Matsumoto, who expressed high expectations for the University's future as a University for International Research Excellence.
