Kyoto University and its wholly owned subsidiary, Kyoto University Innovation Capital Co, Ltd (Kyoto iCAP), have collaborated with BioLabs, the world's largest life science incubator platform based in the United States, to establish a new company — BioLabs Academy GK — dedicated to entrepreneurial education and support services for Japanese researchers and startup companies.
BioLabs Academy will work in close partnership with Kyoto University and its affiliates, while also drawing upon collaborations with universities and research institutions across Japan. With Kyoto as its base, and focusing to serve all of Japan, BioLabs Academy aims to empower entrepreneurial scientists through high-impact programming and hands-on mentorship.
BioLabs builds on more than a decade of experience in supporting entrepreneurs in the biotech industry. Since its founding in 2010 in Cambridge, Massachusetts, BioLabs has grown into a global innovation platform, operating over 20 locations across the United States, France, Germany, and Japan.
BioLabs Academy, building on the international best practices developed by BioLabs, offers a structured, repeatable path to venture creation — grounded in global best practices and adapted to Japan's research ecosystem.
