An award ceremony for the 8th Yukawa-Kimura Prize of the Yukawa Memorial Foundation was held at the Panasonic Auditorium in the Yukawa Institute for Theoretical Physics, Kyoto University, on 21 January 2015. At the ceremony, Dr Akihiro Ishibashi, Associate Professor of the Faculty of Science and Engineering at Kinki University, was awarded a certificate, medal, and cash prize. After the ceremony, Dr Ishibashi delivered a commemorative lecture entitled "High-dimensional general relativity and black holes".

The Yukawa-Kimura Prize of the Yukawa Memorial Foundation was first awarded in 2007, based on a donation made by Mrs Hiroko Kimura, widow of former Hiroshima University professor of theoretical physics Dr Toshiei Kimura, to the Yukawa Memorial Foundation. The Prize rewards a researcher who achieved remarkable results in gravitational physics, spatiotemporal theory, field theory, and other fields related to fundamental theoretical physics. The awardee is chosen by a selection committee at the Yukawa Institute.
