UPDATE (9 February 2021): Keynote lecture 2 changed to "STI in Africa: Tools and Partnership Opportunities" by Mr Jean Albergel, director of the Expertise and Consultancy Mission, French National Research Institute for Sustainable Development (IRD)

In October 2019, Kyoto University and the University of Bordeaux concluded a Strategic Partnership Agreement to build on the close academic collaboration that the two institutions have cultivated since 2002. Under the direct leadership of their presidents, the strategic partnership aims to develop interdisciplinary research collaboration and promote human capital mobility in an expanded range of academic fields, with a particular focus on the three fields of energy science, medicine, and African area studies.

The 4th Kyoto-Bordeaux International Symposium aims to facilitate information sharing and promote collaboration on education and human capital development between Japan, France, and Africa in those three fields of focus.

The symposium is open to all members of the general public.
