For area studies, periodical publications such as newspapers and journals are essential and valuable as primary sources which reflect the society and the era in the region. However, since their format is not designed for long-term preservation, these publications are in danger of deterioration and disposal in Southeast Asian countries or even in Japan. Our purpose is to create a system that allows librarians and researchers to share regional research materials beyond national and organizational frameworks. For the purposes of sharing information for Southeast Asian studies and preserving periodical publications in the next 100 years, we would like to propose three suggestions: 1) sharing information, 2) preserving original materials, and 3) sharing resources.
