The Kyoto University Faculty of Economics was founded in 1919, which makes this year its 100th anniversary. In commemoration of this milestone, the Faculty will be hosting a series of international conferences in 2019 and beyond, beginning with the first on Saturday-Sunday 24–25 August.
This international conference is aimed at contributing to the development of economics, and features presentations and debates by leading researchers of economic growth and income distribution from Japan and abroad.
Since the birth of economics as an academic discipline, economic growth and income distribution have remained two of its most important topics; they are as relevant as ever today as slowing economic growth and widening income gaps in the industrialized world are attracting widespread concern.
In keeping with the Faculty of Economics' tradition of valuing a diversity of perspectives, the upcoming conference brings together frontline scholars from a wide variety of schools, ranging from neoclassical to Keynesian and post-Keynesian, to present their research and discuss issues related to economic growth and income distribution.
All those interested are welcome to attend, including undergraduate and graduate students, alumni, and researchers from the University and elsewhere.
