On 30 September, the International Education and Student Mobility Division, together with its student Peer Tutors, held the fall 2026 edition of “Exchange Students Meet-up!” at the Institute for Liberal Arts and Sciences Building.
Kyoto University maintains university-level student exchange agreements with approximately 150 partner institutions worldwide and hosts around 300 exchange students annually. For the fall 2026 semester, the University welcomed 189 new exchange students.
The meet-up was organized as an opportunity for these newly arrived students to interact with exchange students who had been enrolled since the previous semester, as well as with KyotoU students interested in international exchange. The participants comprised 166 new exchange students, three continuing exchange students, and 30 KyotoU students, for a total of 199. During the event, they changed seats every 10 minutes in response to a bell, allowing them to interact with as many people as possible.
The meet-up proved to be a valuable opportunity for the students to build friendships with peers from around the world, with some participants staying on afterwards to exchange contact information and make plans to go out together.
