On 3 April, the International Education and Student Mobility Division, together with student Peer Tutors, held the spring 2026 "Exchange Students Meet-up!" at the Institute for Liberal Arts and Sciences Building.
Kyoto University maintains university-level student exchange agreements with approximately 150 partner institutions worldwide and hosts around 300 exchange students annually. In the spring semester of 2026, it welcomed 121 new exchange students.
The meet-up on 3 April provided an opportunity for these new students to interact with those who had enrolled in the previous semester, as well as with KyotoU students interested in international exchange. The 160 participants -- 91 new and 13 continuing exchange students and 56 KyotoU students -- rotated seats every 10 minutes to speak with as many people as possible.
The event proved to be a valuable opportunity for building friendships with peers from around the world, with some participants exchanging contact information and going cherry blossom viewing together afterward.
