General Memoranda for Academic Cooperation and Exchange Concluded with Yangon Technological University and Mandalay Technological University (October 4, 2013)

General memoranda for academic cooperation and exchange were concluded between Kyoto University and Yangon Technological University (YTU) and Kyoto University and Mandalay Technological University (MTU) at the YTU Campus in Myanmar. The signing ceremony was attended by Prof. Kiyoshi Yoshikawa, Kyoto University's executive vice-president for research, H. E. Dr. Ko Ko Oo, minister of science and technology of Myanmar, Prof. Aye Myint, rector of YTU, and Prof. Myint Thein, pro-rector of MTU.

In October 2013, the Japanese government launched the JICA Project on the Enhancement of Engineering Higher Education in Myanmar, a five-year program to support human capacity development and strengthen the educational system at YTU and MTU. Kyoto University is one of seven Japanese universities involved in the project, and has established the Support Unit for the Enhancement of Engineering Higher Education in Myanmar, in the Graduate School of Engineering in order to promote research and education collaboration in the field of civil engineering. Through the general memoranda and the JICA Project, Kyoto University aims to dispatch expert staff to the Myanmar universities, exchange students and scholars, and pursue research collaboration.
