CiRA Director Professor Shinya Yamanaka and Kyoto University Receive a Special Honor Award and Commendation, Respectively, from Kyoto Prefecture (October 9, 2012)

Kyoto Prefecture presented CiRA Director Professor Shinya Yamanaka, the winner of the 2012 Nobel Prize for Physiology or Medicine, with the Special Honor Award and Kyoto University with an official commendation. President Hiroshi Matsumoto and Director Yamanaka received the commendation and award certificate, respectively, from Governor Keiji Yamada.

Governor Yamada told them how he was delighted to break the happy news from the academic city of Kyoto, and that Professor Yamanaka's winning the prize would give hope to people throughout the world. While expressing his gratitude for the award, Director Yamanaka voiced his determination to further pursue his research.
