Professor Koichi Hamada from Yale University Gives a Lecture at the Graduate School of Economics' Research Project Center (May 9, 2012)

Lecture by Professor Hamada

The Graduate School of Economics' Research Project Center held a lecture session, co-sponsored by the Kyoto Association of Corporate Executives, featuring Professor Koichi Hamada from Yale University.

With numerous achievements that have earned him international renown since the 1960s, Professor Hamada has been known in recent years for his argument in favor of the so-called reflation or inflation targeting policy as well as his criticism against the Bank of Japan's economic management. In his lecture, he expressed strong approval for the BOJ's recent change of policy, which took place on February 14, and fervently explained the theoretical background to his strong recommendation for its continuation.

The venue was packed to its capacity of 250 seats with eager participants, many of whom asked questions and some of whom lined up to speak to Professor Hamada after the session.

Visiting national universities around the Kansai region for a brief period of time to lecture at faculties of economics, Professor Hamada went home after the event with a look of satisfaction, remarking "I got the best response at Kyoto University."
