As part of a series of lectures at the Graduate School of Management, Mr. Ken Watanabe, an international film star, took the rostrum as a lecturer. The classroom was filled with students and staff members who eagerly listened to Mr. Watanabe's story about his advance to Hollywood and experiences there, and later participated in a passionate discussion.
For the second semester of AY2011, the graduate school runs a lecture series on "entertainment business management," inviting the frontrunners of management (creators/producers/performers) representing Japan or the world who agree with the course's intention.
The lecture series aims to equip students with the essential sense and skills necessary to create, plan and manage entertainment businesses, while awakening the entertainment potentials within them that are naturally given to humans and which transcend knowledge, by looking at such diverse fields as food, dancing, advertisement media, theater, entertainment shows, music, sports, religious studies, gardening and eventology.
In addition to Mr. Watanabe, the lecturers included have been prominent people from a variety of sectors, such as songwriter and novelist Mr. Rei Nakanishi, Nanzenji Temple head monk Mr. Bunpo Nakamura, and composer and music producer Mr. Shigeaki Saegusa, which caused a sensation among students.
