Executive Vice-President Ohnishi Meets with Members of the Kyoto Union Club (Thailand) (July 2, 2011)

Executive Vice-President Yuzo Ohnishi met with members of the Kyoto Union Club (KUC)--an alumni association of Thais who have studied at Kyoto University--in Bangkok, Thailand to discuss a report on KUC activities scheduled for the 6th Kyoto University Homecoming Day to be held on November 12. KUC’s Chairman Sucharit Koontanakulvong and President Krisada Visavateeranon from the Thai-Nichi Institute of Technology attended the meeting, made possible through the arrangements of Shinsuke Tomita (a researcher at the Center for Southeast Asian Studies’ Bangkok Liaison Office).

At the meeting, in a relaxed atmosphere, participants discussed topics such as the Great East Japan Earthquake in March, the situation at the Fukushima nuclear power plant, and recent news about Kyoto University. On Homecoming Day, KUC will give a presentation regarding its activities and the tsunami-related damage along Thailand’s coastal areas caused by the Sumatra earthquake in Indonesia and the restoration efforts to date.
