2010 Kyoto University President Award Ceremony

The 2010 Kyoto University President Award ceremony was held to recognize students and student organizations that have made outstanding academic, extracurricular, social, or other achievements which contribute to the university's prestige.
This year, six individuals and three organizations were selected out of twenty-five candidates.
After presenting certificates and commemorative items, President Hiroshi Matsumoto commented on their achievements, followed by presentations and performances by the winners, which were truly worthy of the President Award.

| Keisuke Fujii 3rd Year, Doctoral Program, Department of Nuclear Engineering, Graduate School of Engineering | Academic | A paper on the findings from a joint research project with NTT, which significantly increases the feasibility of quantum computers, was published in the Physical Review Letter vol. 105 250503 (2010), the magazine of the highest authority in physics, which lists him as the first author. The findings were also reported by the media, including Nikkan Kogyo Shimbun. |
| Eiji Yoshihara 3rd Year, Doctoral Program, Division of Systemic Life Science, Graduate School of Biostudies | Academic | Made a highly significant discovery regarding the molecular mechanism of diabetes and published the finding in Nature Communications as the first author. The finding was also reported by the media, including Kyoto Shimbun. Published three papers as the first author (including this one), five papers as a co-author, and has made presentations at international conferences. |

He is also active in returning research achievements to society by promoting CPR education programs, as well as writing articles and giving lectures to spread CPR-related information and train CPR rescuers. |
