2010 Kyoto University Sports Union Sports Award Ceremony

The 2010 Kyoto University Sports Union Sports Award Ceremony was held in Raku-yu Kaikan.

The award was established in 2007 to honor promising students selected from among the members of sports clubs affiliated with the Kyoto University Sports Union. Its aim is to encourage the further development of the university's sports clubs in accordance with the spirit of the Kyoto University Sports Union Code, which states, "This Union is established for the purpose of improving physical education as well as permeating physical activities and sports within Kyoto University, and at the same time, contributing to the physical and mental training and cultivation of character of Kyoto University students so as to nurture promising human resources with academic and moral integrity."

This year, fifteen students were given the award, including nine who received the Sports Union Chair Award and six who received the Excellency Award.

After an address delivered by the Sports Union Chair Masato Nagata, and congratulatory words from the Executive Vice -- President for Education and Student Affairs, Akihiko Akamatsu, Chair Nagata presented the winners at the ceremony with certificates and commemorative items.
