The 2009 Kyoto University Sports Union Sports Award ceremony was held in the Kyoto University Clock Tower Centennial Hall.
Based on the Kyoto University Sports Union Code, which states: "This Union is established for the purpose of improving physical education as well as permeating physical activities and sports within Kyoto University, and at the same time, contributing to the physical and mental training and cultivation of character of Kyoto University students so as to nurture promising human resources with academic and moral integrity," this Sports Award, established in the 2007 academic year, selects and recognizes promising members of the Kyoto University Sports Union, and by doing so, encourages further development of participating sporting organizations.
This year, there are 15 award recipients, with 10 for the Sports Union Chair Award and 5 for the Excellency Award.
