The Hanoi Yoshida Association is the Alumni association for those living in Hanoi (Vietnam) who graduated from Kyoto University.
The Hanoi Yoshida Association's meeting was held in Hanoi city and attended by President Matsumoto and others from Kyoto University who were taking part in the 'Kobe University, Kyoto University, Osaka University, University of Trade, Hanoi University of Science and Technology, Hanoi National University, Vietnam-Hanoi Symposium: Celebrating 40 Years since the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations between Japan-Vietnam.'
After the welcoming speech by Association President, Satoshi Sumida (Department of Engineering, graduated 1970), University President Matsumoto talked about the recent situation at the university and expressed his hope in deepening connections between the university and graduates living in Vietnam through the meeting.
From the Alumni Association there was the Vietnamese Kyoto University Alumni, which is made up of past international students from Vietnam, as well as Association President Ta Thanh Van. In his speech, Ta Thanh Van said that he was "extremely happy that this meeting could be held on the anniversary of 40 years of Japan-Vietnam Foreign Diplomatic Relations."
After Executive Vice-President Hidetoshi Kotera made a toast, there was a lively exchange of ideas between participants from Japan and Vietnam of many different age groups, and the meeting finished very successfully.
