Student exchange agreement concluded with the University of Groningen, Netherlands (7 October 2014)

A student exchange agreement was concluded between Kyoto University and the University of Groningen at a signing ceremony held at Kyoto University's Clock Tower Centennial Hall on 7 October 2014. The new agreement follows the conclusion of a general memorandum for academic cooperation and exchange between the two institutions in 2013.

Before signing the agreement, President Juichi Yamagiwa of Kyoto University and Rector Elmer Sterken of the University of Groningen discussed the future potential of exchange and collaboration between the two institutions. The University of Groningen is a member of the Coimbra Group, a prestigious association of European universities, and actively pursues international cooperation with a global network of partner institutions. The conclusion of the student exchange agreement will facilitate a deepening of the relationship between the two universities, including joint research projects and the exchange of researchers and students.

In addition to the University of Groningen, Kyoto University has concluded student exchange agreements with two other prominent universities in the Netherlands: Leiden University and the University of Utrecht.
