Universiti Brunei Darussalam is Brunei's oldest university. Through its involvement in international university consortia and other efforts, it is actively engaged in transnational collaborative research to address global environmental issues such as biodiversity and climate change. It has already concluded faculty-level cooperation agreements with Kyoto University's Center for Southeast Asian Studies (CSEAS) and Graduate School of Asian and African Area Studies (ASAFAS). The conclusion of the university-level memorandum for academic cooperation and exchange is anticipated to significantly advance collaboration between the two institutions, including joint research projects and the exchange of students and young researchers.
