Enrollment procedures vary according to the status of each student as outlined below. All students are advised to first see the pamphlets posted on the "Insurance requirements for Kyoto University students" page of the University website and/or visit the Gakkensai and Futaibaiseki webpage of the Japan Educational Exchanges and Services (JEES), which provides Gakkensai, to obtain important information about these insurance plans.

Newly enrolled students

Please read the yellow "Insurance Enrollment Guide (for All Students)", which is enclosed with your enrollment documents.

Current students who have not yet enrolled in the required insurance plan

Please check your Gakkensai and Futaibaiseki insurance enrollment status at the webpage indicated below. If you have not yet enrolled in the required insurance, please enroll from the same page.

There have been several cases of students paying insurance premiums a second time, even though they were already enrolled in Gakkensai. Please be sure to check if you are currently already enrolled in the insurance before completing the enrollment procedures.

Current students who expect to remain enrolled at the University beyond the regular term of study (including due to taking a leave of absence) and who therefore need to re-enroll in insurance

The required procedures can be completed via:

Research students, credited auditors, auditing students, JSPS Research Fellows (PDs), and others

Research students and others are generally required to enroll in a 'Type A' insurance plan for one year. Those expecting to take part in clinical training or other activities, however, will be subjected to different insurance requirements and are therefore advised to consult with the educational affairs office of their department.
