KIZUNA's July event is a shichimi blending workshop at the Kyoto Handicraft Center, located within walking distance of Kyoto University's main campus.

Shichimi (seven-flavor chili pepper) is a common Japanese spice mixture containing seven ingredients. Workshop participants will blend seven flavor herbs and spices as they like to make their original shichimi, and take it home in a bamboo cylinder as a souvenir.

This will be a great opportunity to experience traditional Japanese food culture and make new friends.

Instructor

Mr Michael Drzmisek Sozui ("Urasenke Chado" teacher)
Born in Switzerland. Graduated from the College of Arts and Crafts in Zurich. First contact with Japanese culture through the martial art aikido. Originally started to study Japanese calligraphy and later chanoyu (tea ceremony) to complement martial arts studies, but became increasingly interested in tea over the years. Came to Japan to focus on his tea studies.
