From 10 June to 31 July, the Graduate School of Energy Science (GSES) hosted a credit-bearing internship program for five undergraduate students from the Faculty of Engineering, Chiang Mai University (CMU), with support from Kyoto University provided under the Wild & Wise Collaborative Learning Program.

The interns each worked in one of five GSES laboratories on projects assigned to them based on their departmental affiliations.

In addition to lab work, the 50-day program included field trips to: Keihanna e 2 Future Square, which features an exhibition on "smart city" initiatives; the Graduate School of Agriculture's experimental farm, where research is underway on "green energy" farming based on renewable energies; the Institute of Advanced Energy (IAE), which hosts the Heliotron J plasma device; and Amagase Dam in Uji.

The students also went sightseeing in and around Kyoto, attending the Gion Festival together with their Japanese peers.

During the final week, the interns delivered presentations and submitted lab notebooks for grading. Program supervisors were impressed with the students' work, expressing confidence in their ability to make the most of their experiences at GSES as they continue their studies in Thailand.
