First Meeting of the Tokyo-Area Alumni Network Team (September 20, 2012)

The first meeting of the Tokyo-area alumni network team was held at the Kyoto University Tokyo Office.

The alumni network team for the Tokyo (Kanto) area was established at a meeting held at the Tokyo Office on January 19 for the purpose of promoting friendship and information exchange among faculty and department alumni in Tokyo and the Kanto area, while strengthening ties with the university and Kyoto University Alumni so that they could develop together.

The meeting was attended by twenty-three alumni members from fifteen alumni branches and six university staff members, including Executive Vice-President Yuzo Ohnishi.

At the outset, Executive Vice-President Ohnishi gave a speech and outlined the recent activities of Kyoto University Alumni, after which participants introduced themselves and summarized the activities of their alumni branches. Later, participants discussed and exchanged views on the management of the network team, appointing the Shirankai Tokyo branch (Faculty of Medicine) as the representative secretarial office and the following four alumni branches as secretarial offices: Tokyo branch from the Faculty of Economics Alumni, Tokyo branch from the Kyoto University Alumni Association of Civil Engineering Graduates, Kanto branch from the Kyoto University Alumni Association of Mechanical Engineering Graduates (Keikikai), and Kanto Ryokuyokai (alumni from the Faculty of Agriculture’s marine sciences courses). Further details regarding the management of the network team will be discussed by the secretarial offices.

At a social party held after the meeting, Chair Akiyuki Furuya from Kyoto University Yakuyukai’s Tokyo branch called for a toast. Participants enjoyed conversations until the end of the party, talking about such topics as the future of the network team.
