In the city of Hong Kong, fifteen participants attended a preparatory meeting for the foundation of Kyoto University Hong Kong Alumni. The participants consisted mainly of former international students currently residing in Hong Kong in addition to some Japanese graduates and delegates from the university.
After a speech by Executive Vice-President Yuzo Ohnishi, which mentioned the current status of Kyoto University and its alumni organizations, the meeting turned to a discussion regarding the foundation of an alumni organization in Hong Kong chaired by Professor Tetsuji Atsuji (assistant to the executive vice-president). The participants then agreed to turn the preparatory meeting into the inaugural general assembly of the Kyoto University Hong Kong Alumni , with which Kyoto University Hong Kong Alumni was founded after an exchange of views.
The meeting elected Mr. Chan Che-Shing as chair and Mr. Ling Zhou, Mr. Wong Yiu Kwan and Mr. Chiu Yu Lok as secretaries.
