January Regular Meeting of Kyoto Aoi no Kai (January 21, 2012)

The January regular meeting of Kyoto Aoi no Kai was held at the Kyoto Heian Hotel in Kyoto City.

Founded in Kyoto on May 10, 1985, Kyoto Aoi no Kai is an alumni association comprised mainly of Kyoto University graduates, which evolved from the former 40's Alumni Club. The January regular meeting, attended by eighty-six members, consisted of a lecture session and party with Mr. Tadashi Shirasu (1978 graduate from the Faculty of Law) acting as the master of ceremonies. A lecture was given by President Hiroshi Matsumoto, titled "Kyoto University, Kyoto, Japan and to the World," which looked squarely at the future of Japan and the world. The lecture enthralled the participants and provoked a very interesting discussion in a lively question-and-answer session that followed.

At the party following the lecture, Mr. Masahiro Tonomura (1968 graduate from the Faculty of Economics) gave a speech and proposed a toast to open the party. Many exchanges of words and ideas took place between President Matsumoto and members, as well as between the members themselves, and the meeting came to a successful close.
