Joetsu Rakuyukai Regular Meeting (August 6, 2011)

Joetsu Rakuyukai Regular Meeting (August 6, 2011)

Joetsu Rakuyukai held its regular meeting at Hotel Heimat in Joetsu City, Niigata Prefecture, which drew fourteen participants.

Joetsu Rakuyukai is an alumni association made up of Kyoto University graduates and other interested people residing in the Joetsu area in Niigata Prefecture. With thirty-nine members, the association meets every summer to deepen relations among its members. This year's regular meeting was the twenty-fifth such event.

The meeting opened with a speech and toast by Chairman Ayumu Kiyomori of Joetsu Rakuyukai (1990 graduate from the Faculty of Science) and proceeded with Mr. Osamu Yato serving as the master of ceremonies (1978 graduate from the Faculty of Agriculture), as it was his organization's turn to organize the meeting. Participants talked about recent news and memorable events. All of them are active in their respective fields: some are involved in a local campaign to revitalize Joetsu City, and others work as volunteers at the local art festival. They were able to share interesting stories with each other.

The entertainment session that followed featured shakuhachi and erhu performances.  After everyone sang Biwako Shuko no Uta as usual, the meeting concluded with a promise to hold a reunion next year.
