President Hiroshi Matsumoto and Executive Vice-President Yuzo Onishi Met with Taiwan Kyoto University Alumni Association Members (April 10, 2011)

After attending the AEARU's 28th Board of Directors Meeting in Hsinchu, Taiwan on April 9 to 10, President Hiroshi Matsumoto attended a meeting of the Taiwan Kyoto University Alumni Association, an association of Taiwanese people who studied at Kyoto University in the past, at the Sheraton Hotel, Taipei, where he was joined by Executive Vice-President Yuzo Onishi and Manager Tadao Kono (from the Foreign Affairs Department) to deepen ties with about thirty members.

The meeting opened with a welcome speech by Hsu Minhui (chair of the KU Alumni Association in Taiwan), which was followed by President Matsumoto's speech and Executive Vice-President Onishi's report regarding the latest news on Kyoto University.

The meeting was a good opportunity to deepen our friendship with young and older members of the alumni association, including ever-energetic former students now over 90 years of age. As the KU Alumni Association in Taiwan decided to be affiliated with Kyoto University Alumni Association, the meeting closed on a friendly note.
