The main function of this center is to promote interdisciplinary education and research at Kyoto University. In addition to providing direct support to KU education and research units that merge multiple fields of study, the center also carries out its own projects on interdisciplinary education methodologies, and provides information to those on and off campus seeking to embark on interdisciplinary initiatives. Interdisciplinary research units consistently produce impressive results with potential for future development. The center has 26 education and research units.
