On 2 March, a delegation comprising representatives of Kyoto University's Graduate School of Global Environmental Studies (GSGES) -- Dean Shigeo Fujii, Vice-Dean Shiya Funakawa, Prof Yoshizumi Kajii, and postdoctoral researcher Dr Habuer -- together with Prof Eiji Nawata, Vice-Dean of the KU Graduate School of Agriculture, and Prof Huynh Trung Hai, Dean and Associate Professor of the School of Environmental Science and Technology (INEST), Hanoi University of Science and Technology (HUST), visited the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) in Bangkok, Thailand, paying courtesy to President Worsak Kanok-Nukulchai and Vice President Kazuo Yamamoto.

AIT is a graduate school established to provide higher education to talented students from mainly Asian countries. It has produced a significant number of graduates who have gone on to become cabinet ministers in Asia, including President Ma Ying-jeou of Taiwan. Each year, a small number of AIT master's program graduates enroll in a KU doctoral program. To date, four AIT graduates have studied at GSGES, three of whom have completed their programs.

At AIT, a video presentation introducing the institute was followed by a welcome address by President Worsak. The visiting delegates responded by introducing themselves and expressing their gratitude. This was followed by a lively discussion about research and education collaboration between KU and AIT. The meeting closed with President Worsak presenting thank-you gifts to the visitors and all those present taking a group photo.

While at AIT, the delegation also met with Prof C Visvanathan, Dean of the School of Environment, Resources, and Development, discussed student exchanges with an agricultural group, toured the laboratories of the Department of Environmental Technology Management, and interviewed prospective KU doctoral students.
