The 2nd Koc University - Kyoto University Symposium (September 17-19, 2013)

The 2nd Koc University - Kyoto University Symposium, jointly held by Kyoto University and Koc University, Turkey was held at Kyoto University. Under theme of "New Frontiers in Health Sciences and Technologies," the symposium sought to promote research cooperation between the two universities, particularly in the fields of medicine and medical technology. Over fifty researchers participated in the symposium.

The first day of the event began in the Shiran Kaikan Inamori Hall, with opening speeches by President Hiroshi Matsumoto of Kyoto University and President Umran S. Inan of Koc University. The speeches were followed by research presentations by scholars from both institutions. The second day also featured research presentations and lively discussion sessions. A poster presentation session held on the second floor of the Shiran Kaikan also stimulated enthusiastic exchanges between scholars from the two universities.

A campus tour was held on the symposium's third day, giving the Turkish scholars an opportunity to visit Kyoto University's Center for iPS Cell Research and Application (CiRA), the Kyoto University Hospital, and the latest facilities at the Graduate School of Medicine. The Koc University scholars were able to closely inspect the facilities, and meet and converse with researchers working there.

The symposium's three days provided a valuable opportunity for researchers from Kyoto University and Koc University to exchange ideas and explore new possibilities for collaborative research.
