About the Wild & Wise Collaborative Learning Programs

As part of its current (FY2016–2021) master plan, Kyoto University is working toward the goal of increasing its international student population from around 2,100 to 3,300.

At the same time, the University is committed to producing "strong, bold leaders capable of showing others the way forward", as articulated in its WINDOW Concept, recognizing that the key to achieving this goal is to provide students with cross-cultural learning and research opportunities that can lead to a deeper understanding of both their home countries and foreign cultures.

The Wild & Wise Collaborative Learning Programs were launched in 2016 as part of the University's efforts to cultivate such leaders — globally-minded and well-equipped to lead the next generation — and to enhance diversity among its student body. The programs are organized based on recommendations from participating graduate schools and institutes, and feature joint-study opportunities for capable international and Japanese students.
