The 10th University Administrators Workshop was held at the Kyoto University Clock Tower Centennial Hall on 12-13 February 2015. The workshop, which has been held regularly since 2006, provides a platform for administrative and senior staff in charge of international exchange and overseas study programs to share their opinions and knowledge. The workshop focuses on issues of common concern relating to university operation, with a particular focus on enhancing internationalization efforts. The majority of attendees are staff from Kyoto University's partner institutions and the members of regional university consortia, such as the Association of Pacific Rim Universities (APRU) and the Association of East Asian Research Universities (AEARU).

The central theme of the 10th workshop was "The Role of the International Office in Implementing the University's International Strategy and Initiatives". The workshop was attended by over eighty participants from fourteen universities throughout Asia, including Kyoto University and five other Japanese institutions.

The workshop began with a speech by Prof Kayo Inaba, Kyoto University's Executive Vice-President for Gender Equality, International Affairs, and Public Relations. There were then three sessions on the topics of "Initiatives to Promote International Student Mobility", "Promoting International Research Activities", and "International Office Functions and Human Resources Essential to University Internationalization". The sessions featured presentations by representatives from several participating institutions, including presentations by an administrative staff member and a university research administrator from Kyoto University.

Each presentation was followed by a lively discussion on its respective topic. Through providing such opportunities for international affairs staff to share opinions and ideas about best practices and how to address challenges in promoting university internationalization, the workshop seeks to facilitate the enhancement of international operations at the participating institutions, and strengthen the network between leading Asian universities.
