The Kyoto University Kokoro Research Center is pleased to present the 37th Kokoro Seminar "Grief Therapy: Clinical Applications of the Continuing Bonds with the Deceased", to be held Tuesday 19 July at the Inamori Center.
Losing a loved one can be a profoundly painful experience; it can even shape the way the bereaved live out the rest of their lives. While some people overcome their pain of loss with support from family and friends, others need or benefit from some form of psychotherapy.
In the 37th Kokoro Seminar, Professor Simon Shimshon Rubin and Dr Ruth Malkinson of the International Center for the Study of Loss, Bereavement and Human Resilience, University of Haifa, Israel, will discuss their internationally recognized "Two-Track Model of Bereavement" and its clinical applications. Focusing on the benefits of embracing "continuing bonds" with the deceased, as opposed to trying to let go of any such attachments, the speakers will present case reports of grievers treated with cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and rational emotive behavior therapy (REBT), as well as suggestions to psychologists on how to go about choosing the right counseling approach for each client.
All those interested are welcome to attend.
