Kyoto University will accept applications for tuition exemption etc for the second semester of academic year 2017-2018 as outlined below.

1.How to apply

The application process consists of the following steps:

Step 1) Registration on the Exemption Online Application System (EOAS) *
Step 2) Data submission (family details) via EOAS *
Step 3) Application (submission of documents)

* EOAS can be accessed via Kyoto University Liberal Arts Syllabus Information System (KULASIS).

This process also applies to students expecting to enroll in a master's or doctoral program in academic year 2017-2018. (Applications will remain valid after the student has entered one of those programs.)

2.Application schedule

Deadline for each step (Be punctual)

(Step 1) Registration Monday 11 September 12:00 -- Wednesday 4 October 24:00
(Step 2) Data submission Friday 6 October 9:00 -- Friday 13 October 17:00
(Step 3) Application (submission of documents) Monday 16 October -- Friday 20 October
(Mailed documents must arrive at the office no later than 20 October.)

* Those who chose "Batch" (collective application for the first and second semesters) in Step 1 (Registration) for the first semester, and who have no changes to make regarding the information (family details) they submitted, do not need to repeat the application process for the second semester.
If you do need to update the information you submitted, login to EOAS and make necessary changes during the "Step 2 (Data submission)" period for the second semester tuition exemption application. You will also need to submit the application form and required documents containing the updated information.

3.Eligibility

Eligible applicants are regular undergraduate and graduate students who:

1)
have excellent academic records who find it difficult to pay tuition fees due to economic reason(s).
2)
find it difficult to pay tuition fees because their Academic Expense Supporter has passed away, or the students themselves or Academic Expense  Supporter have suffered major damage from wind, flood, or other disasters within six months prior to the payment due date.
3)
have circumstance(s) that are deemed by the President of the University to be equivalent to those mentioned in 2).

Note:
- Students who have received disciplinary action within six months prior to the start of the semester or at the time of the application are ineligible. If a student receives disciplinary action after applying, that student's application will be invalidated.

4.Application results

Application results will be made available on EOAS in late January 2018. Each applicant is responsible for checking their own results via EOAS.
