Energy science internship held for Thai students (29 May-30 June 2017)

發表日期

From 29 May through 30 June, the Institute of Advanced Energy (IAE) held an internship program, the ASEAN Young Researcher Training Program in the Energy Field. This program was organized in collaboration with the Graduate School of Energy Science and the Graduate School of Engineering. Eight students from four Thai universities participated.

At IAE, two students from King Mongkut's University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT) -- PhD candidate Mr Setkit Nattawut and master's student Mr Ruangdet Fugtuan -- trained at the Advanced Energy Generation Division's Quantum Radiation Energy Research Section, headed by Professor Hideaki Ohgaki and Specially Appointed Professor Kouichi Miura. KMUTT is a partner in Japan-ASEAN Science, Technology, and Innovation Platform (JASTIP).

The Graduate School of Energy Science had two laboratories each hosting two students. Professor Takashi Sagawa's Quantum Energy Processes group at the Department of Fundamental Energy Science was joined by two master's students from KMUTT's Joint Graduate School of Energy and Environment (JGSEE) -- Ms Nattida Srisasiwimon and Ms Oranoot Sittipunsakda. Professor Keiichi Ishihara's Energy Social Engineering laboratory at the Department of Socio-Environmental Energy Science hosted undergraduate Ms Titarat Thongpradith and postgraduate Mr Thanaphon Kansaard from the College of Nanotechnology, King Mongkut's Institute of Technology Ladkrabang (KMITL).

At the Graduate School of Engineering, Associate Professor Noriaki Sano's Separation Engineering Lab, Department of Chemical Engineering, trained two master's students from Chulalongkorn University -- Ms Purichaya Kuptajit and Ms Karanick Minakanishtha.

In addition to working to hone their research skills, the eight interns had opportunities to experience Japanese culture, visiting historical sites and tasting local cuisine in the company of their Japanese peers.

These experiences are hoped to contribute not only to the participants' ongoing studies, but also greater research collaboration at JASTIP.
