The 17th General Assembly of Kyoto University Tosa-Yoshida Alumni and a commemorative lecture session were held at a hotel in Kochi City.

Kyoto University Tosa-Yoshida Alumni is an association of Kyoto University graduates residing in Kochi Prefecture (including those who have completed a course). With Mr. Hiroshi Masui from the secretariat (1984 graduate, Faculty of Engineering) serving as the master of ceremonies and about 120 members and visitors in attendance, the lecture session opened with a speech by Chair Saburo Ohnishi (1969 graduate, Faculty of Medicine). Then, Professor Takafumi Kimura (Center for iPS Cell Research and Application) gave a lecture, titled "iPS Cells: From Revolution to Evolution." Joined also by many non-members, the session sparked great enthusiasm, especially among junior and senior high school students who asked eager questions.

After the lecture, a social gathering was opened with a toast by former Chair Toshio Furuya (1952 graduate, Faculty of Letters), after which members enjoyed mingling together. At the end of the party, the participants all sang Biwako Shuko no Uta and the meeting ended on a happy note.
