On 17 December 2018, Kyoto University hosted Noh and Kyogen performances for its students, faculty, and staff at the Kyoto Kanze Noh Theater. This annual event, now in its 62nd year, is one of the University's two extracurricular educational programs. The other is the Anniversary Concert held around the KyotoU Foundation Day in June.

A large crowd of both newcomers and longtime fans, who look forward to the performances every year, came out to watch the 2018 program, comprised of the Kyogen play Nagamitsu and the Noh drama Kagekiyo. The event began with members of the student Noh club Kanze-kai introducing the program and explaining the appeal of each genre, partly in English.

The audience, including a large number of international students, watched the performances with rapt attention, enjoying the opportunity to experience Japan's theatrical tradition and culture.
