Meeting with Kyoto University Regional Alumni Association Delegates (November 9, 2012)

A meeting was held at Rakuyu Kaikan, attended by fourteen delegates from Kyoto University Alumni and regional alumni associations, along with members of the Kyoto University Alumni secretaries meeting.

The purpose of the meeting was to provide an opportunity for delegates from regional alumni associations and secretaries from the secretaries meeting to exchange views on a variety of issues concerning the management of each alumni association and strengthen communication in advance of the seventh Kyoto University Homecoming Day.

At the outset, Executive Vice-President Hidetoshi Kotera (secretary general of Kyoto University Alumni) explained the purpose of the meeting and outlined recent news from the Kyoto University Alumni. Then participants introduced themselves, and delegates from regional alumni associations spoke on the current situations of respective regional alumni associations.

Later, participants actively exchanged views on topics proposed by delegates from regional alumni associations, such as how to reinvigorate alumni organizations.

At a social party that followed, Professor Yasushi Maehira from the Graduate School of Education called for a toast on behalf of the Alumni of Faculty of Education (Kyoyukai). After participants were able to enjoy friendly conversations with each other, Mr. Yuzo Ohnishi (special assistant to the president and Kyoto University Alumni’s former secretary general) gave a speech, which concluded the event.
