Kyoto University Regional Seminar and Meeting with Kyoto University Taiwan Alumni Members (October 26, 2012)

A Kyoto University regional seminar and meeting with Kyoto University Taiwan Alumni members were held at the National Taiwan University. Kyoto University Taiwan Alumni is an alumni association consisting primarily of graduates from Kyoto University faculties and former students who completed graduate programs at Kyoto University.

Before the meeting, Professor Tetsuji Atsuji, assistant to the executive vice-president, gave a lecture titled "Japanese and Chinese Characters" for nearly eighty participants.

Professor Atsuji, who specializes in Chinese cultural history and Chinese characters, reviewed the history of China and Japan, examined what people had written, and talked about the materials and tools used, while participants listened to his discussion with great interest.

Following the lecture was a meeting between Kyoto University Taiwan Alumni members and delegates from Kyoto University, including Dr. Yuzo Ohnishi (special assistant to the president). Through a friendly and lively discussion with alumni members--including Chairman Hsu Minhui--participants were able to deepen communication with each other, and the meeting was concluded successfully.
