First General Assembly of Kyoto University Shoju-Kai (May 12, 2012)

The first general assembly of Kyoto University Shoju-Kai was held at the Clock Tower Centennial Hall. Founded on October 1, 2010, Kyoto University Shoju-Kai is an alumni association of Kyoto University's former and present administrative staff members, including those who have retired or moved to other institutions, whose aim is to promote friendship and exchange among members while contributing to the development of the university.

The first general assembly, which was originally scheduled to be held in May of last year, had been postponed for a year due to the Great East Japan Earthquake.

More than a hundred participants from around the country gathered at the general assembly. After a speech presented by Chariman Yukio Komuratani (former administrative staff member), Executive Vice-President Yuzo Ohnishi read a congratulatory message from President Hiroshi Matsumoto. Executive Vice-President Kohei Shiota then gave a speech, which included recent news about the university.

A social gathering followed the general assembly, which opened with a speech and toast by Mr. Kohei Shinozawa (former director general of the Administrative Bureau). Participants enjoyed renewing their old ties while talking about their memories of Kyoto University until the event was concluded in a happy atmosphere.
