Preparations Started for the Organization of Kyoto University Okinawa Alumni (Tentative Name) (April 26, 2012)

At a hotel in Naha City, a meeting to discuss the foundation of a regional association of Kyoto University alumni in Okinawa was held with the attendance of twelve participants, including graduates living in Okinawa and the university staff.

Following a speech and report by Executive Vice-President Yuzo Ohnishi on the current status of Kyoto University Alumni, Mr. Kazuyoshi Matsui (Director, External Affairs Planning Division, External Affairs Department) asked participants to organize Kyoto University Okinawa Alumni (tentative name) as a regional alumni association in Okinawa Prefecture and explained the purpose of the meeting, which in effect made it a preparatory meeting for the foundation of Kyoto University Okinawa Alumni (tentative name ).

Afterwards, participants actively exchanged views on the topic and elected Mr. Oshiro (1973 graduate from the Faculty of Medicine) as chair (candidate) and Mr. Yabiku (1983 graduate from the Faculty of Agriculture) as secretary.

The participants agreed that the new alumni association would take over the name of Okinawa Daimonji-kai, which has suspended operation for some time.
