Joint Meeting of Kyoto University Korea Alumni and Seoul Rakuyukai Held in Seoul (April 15, 2012)

A joint meeting was held in Seoul by Kyoto University Korea Alumni and Seoul Rakuyukai, comprised of Kyoto University's Korean graduates residing in South Korea and Japanese graduates residing in South Korea, respectively, with President Hiroshi Matsumoto in attendance.

In addition to the twenty-six members from Kyoto University Korea Alumni and fourteen members from Seoul Rakuyukai, President Kim Jin-Q from Konkuk University was also present at the meeting. The meeting was chaired by Mr. Kim Hway Suh (vice-chair of Kyoto University Korea Alumni; 1986 graduate, Graduate School of Engineering). After a speech by Mr. Shim (chair of Kyoto University Korea Alumni; conferred doctoral degree [dissertation] in engineering in 1980), Chair Kuroda from Seoul Rakuyukai (1964 graduate, Faculty of Economics) also gave a speech.

President Hiroshi Matsumoto then spoke about education and research at Kyoto University and the direction that should be pursued for the future development of Kyoto University Alumni, noting also the current status of exchange with Korea.

Later, Mr. Lee (vice-chair for external cooperation of Kyoto University Korea Alumni; completed the Graduate School of Economics course in 1993) summarized the alumni's activities and introduced its members. Then, Mr. Kobayashi (secretariat of Seoul Rakuyukai; 1972 graduate, Faculty of Law) introduced the members of Seoul Rakuyukai.

At the social gathering, participants--until the end of the event--enjoyed talking in a friendly atmosphere about their memories at Kyoto University and how much they cared for the university.
