Kyoto University Osaka Alumni Club Holds 2012 New Year's Party (January 10, 2012)

The Kyoto University Osaka Alumni Club held its 2012 New Year's party at the Central Electric Club in Osaka City.

The Kyoto University Osaka Alumni Club consists of Kyoto University undergraduate and graduate alumni living in the Kansai area. With currently about 270 members, the club holds an annual New Year's party in January and regular meetings in odd-numbered months to promote friendly relations among members through dinner parties as well as to expose themselves to cutting-edge research findings through lectures from current Kyoto University faculty members.

The New Year's party was attended by seventy-two members. While Chairman Atsuo Adachi from the Executive Committee (1960 graduate from the Faculty of Law) acted as the master of ceremonies, Chair Masahiro Suzuki (1955 graduate from the Faculty of Law) gave a speech, followed by speeches from former President Toshio Sawada, former President Hiroo Imura, Executive Vice-President Yuzo Ohnishi and President Hiroshi Matsumoto. After an overview of activities was given and members with perfect attendance were commended, the party was opened with a toast by former President Toshio Sawada. The participants enjoyed the social gathering, which was successfully closed with three calls for banzai from Vice-Chair Yoshihiko Tsuyuguchi (1954 graduate from the Faculty of Law).
