President Hiroshi Matsumoto Attends Kyoto University China Alumni Meeting (December 3, 2011)

President Hiroshi Matsumoto attended the meeting of Kyoto University China Alumni held in the city of Nanjing and talked with alumni members there.

Kyoto University China Alumni was founded on October 31, 2009, consisting of Chinese who have graduated from Kyoto University and reside in Shanghai, Beijing, Hangzhou, Nanjing, Xi'an and the surrounding areas. About eighty members attended the meeting.

The Kyoto University China Alumni invited Kyokyo-kai (Kyoto University alumni association in the Beijing area, consisting of Kyoto University graduates and its former students from China residing in or around Beijing) and Kyosen-kai (association of Kyoto University graduates residing in or around Shanghai) to participate in the meeting, from which eleven members joined.

The meeting was opened with speeches by Zheng Qiang and Wan Jianmin (the two deputy-chairs of the Kyoto University China Alumni), as well as Chairman Reiji Watanabe of Kyosen-kai and President Matsumoto. Later, Director-General Junichi Mori from the Organization for the Promotion of International Relations called for a toast to open the social gathering. The participants engaged in active exchanges of information and ideas in a friendly atmosphere, and the meeting ended on a happy note.
