Kyoto University accepted an administrative staff member from the University of California, Davis (UCD) as part of the two universities' Staff Internship Exchange Program.
Based on an agreement between Kyoto University and UCD, the Staff Internship Exchange Program allows the two universities to dispatch administrative staff members to each other on an annual alternating basis. This year, Ms. Hong T. Au (program coordinator at the Education Abroad Center) came to work with us. Given a desk at our International Affairs Division (Research and International Affairs Department) and based on a plan she had prepared, she learned about the internationalization of education and research at Kyoto University as well as university management mainly at the Organization for the Promotion of International Relations (OPIR), the International Center, and the Foreign Student Division. Having successfully achieved her goals, she has already returned home.
Before leaving Japan, she gave a presentation on international education at UCD and Kyoto University as a summary of her internship, which earned high marks from the university members of the board and staff members, reaffirming the significance of staff exchange between the two universities. Building on this result, next year we will send a staff member on an internship to UCD.
