General Assembly of Kyoto University Hiroshima Alumni (November 22, 2011)

Kyoto University Hiroshima Alumni held its 2011 general assembly at the ANA Crowne Plaza Hiroshima in Hiroshima City.

Kyoto University Hiroshima Alumni is a regional alumni association consisting of Kyoto University graduates (including graduates from the old Imperial University, Kyoto University and graduate schools) currently or formerly residing in Hiroshima Prefecture. At the general assembly this year, attended by about 170 members, Chairman Koichi Ikeuchi (1953 graduate from the Faculty of Engineering) summarized their activities for the year, then Executive Vice-President Yuzo Ohnishi gave a speech, which was followed by a lecture from Mr. Shigeatsu Hatakeyama (professor of Field Studies and Practical Learning, Field Science Education and Research Center) titled “Mori wa Umi no Koibito (‘The Forest Longs for the Sea’) Movement and the Great East Japan Earthquake.”

At a social gathering after the general assembly, Mayor Kazumi Matsui (1976 graduate from the Faculty of Law) called for a toast, then the alumni members had a chance to deepen their relationships. The event was concluded in an enjoyable mood with all participants singing Biwako Shuko no Uta.
