Kyoto University Delegation Exchanges Opinions with Kyoto University's Japanese Alumni in Malaysia (June 29, 2011)

A delegation of Kyoto University staff members led by Executive Vice-President Yuzo Ohnishi held a meeting to exchange opinions in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, with executive members of the Group of Dark Blue, an association of Kyoto University alumni residing in Malaysia. Since many Japanese companies are now operating in Malaysia, a great number of Kyoto University alumni are active in the country. Under these circumstances, the Group of Dark Blue was founded in the spring of 2010 by Mr. Shigemi Naito (1977 Faculty of Engineering graduate), Mr. Makoto Mori (1983 Faculty of Engineering graduate) and other interested graduates.

At the outset of the meeting, Executive Vice-President Yuzo Ohnishi outlined the support which the university gives to alumni activities, such as Homecoming Day and the Kyoto University Alumni Network System, and introduced the Kyoto University Alumni Network. Participants eagerly listened to his explanation. At the meeting, participants enthusiastically discussed a broad range of topics, such as changes that have occurred at Kyoto University since their student days and recent situations related to universities.
