Annual May Tour of Kyoto University Osaka Alumni Club (May 14, 2011)

The annual May tour of the Kyoto University Osaka Alumni Club was held at the Kyoto University Clock Tower Centennial Hall. The Kyoto University Osaka Alumni Club is comprised of graduates from Kyoto University faculties and graduate schools residing in the Kansai area. The annual May tour features a tour of the university's research facilities and lecture by a current faculty staff member, which provides an opportunity for exposure to cutting-edge, advanced studies while promoting exchange among alumni members.

This year's annual May tour was attended by sixty-five members. Following greetings by Chairman Masahiro Suzuki (a 1955 graduate of the Faculty of Law) and a welcome speech by Executive Vice-President Yuzo Onishi representing Kyoto University, Professor Nobuya Inagaki (vice-director of the Kyoto University Hospital) gave a lecture titled "To Live a Long and Healthy Life." After visiting the hospital, Professor Inagaki then gave the attendees an overview of the hospital in the conference room. Subsequently, they were divided into four groups and shown leading-edge medical facilities and equipment, including the critical care medicine department and patient rooms in the Sekitei ward.

After the tour, a social gathering was held at the Kyoto University Clock Tower Centennial Hall. To start off the party, Vice-Chair Hirotaka Ieki (a 1951 graduate of the Faculty of Law) gave the opening address and Executive Vice-President Onishi made a toast. Until the party ended, interested participants talked further about health, the lecture topic, and the hospital's advanced facilities.
